My friend lived near the Cowley Rd and I had an excellent night out there (was it called The Bully?) followed but a stonking good kebab which I could taste for days. Fabulous!

I know, shame about the pub....a great pub is the Flowing Well, out towards Abingdon...great landlord and superb music, guys fantastic on the guitar, a match for jimi hendrix, and his mate that plays base is awesome, use to tour with bb king and always has a fun tale to tell

Oh, and cowley road, tidied up a fair amount these days, and a lot of the decent weird shops have closed down, which is a shame..

Oooh so now were discussing pubs ... Yay something I sorta know. Never really used to go into town to pubs, faves were The Perch on Port Meadow, the Trout, The General Elliot at South Hinksey (on account of North Hinksey not having any good pubs) and the Vine at Cumnor. Havent lived in Oxford since I was 17(ish) so stretching the old memory here
One thing I do miss is May morning, a hangover @ 5am to listen to Magdelen College choir sing, I always think of Oxford on May 1st.

I'm proud to say that I jumped off the bridge in May 1996. The Police took a 'name' the problem is I can't remeber whose it was I gave

Cowley road has undergone a clean up exercise. There are one too many (and one is too many) places where Champagne cocktails can be bought, but is still remains one of the better streets in the UK.

COS - Change of Status.

I've heard about the AP thing before, but was warned about it. I have read the info on the website before, but once I get about 5 lines into it, all I can read is blah blah blah, I get so confused & I'm not a COMPLETE idiot either, if you can believe that!!!!!!!

I have a B1/B2 visa & I have a permanent adjustment of status case pending for legal residency. Does AP still apply to me? Has anyone been there, done that?

COS is normally called AOS-Adjustment of status....and AP isn't normally a problem unless you have an overstay..so it really depends on how long you were given on the b1/2 and when you applied for AOS, but it's probably safe you don't leave until you get the greencard in your case.

Ahh, that's AOS. Adjustment of status. That web page is a little dry. Here's the info from www.visajourney.com

Can my spouse leave the United States, and then re-enter, before receiving the Green Card (conditional permanent residency)?
A...The spouse cannot re-enter the US unless they have "advance parole" authorization (application form I-131). Advance parole allows you to re-enter the US before approval of Adjustment of Status. Without advance parole approval, leaving the United States is considered an abandonment of your application for Adjustment of Status. Without advance parole approval, the USCIS (INS) will consider you an intending immigrant without a valid visa, and you will be denied entry. If you do not apply for advance parole when you file for Adjustment of Status, contact your local USCIS (INS) office to find out how long it takes them to issue Advance Parole. Although advance parole is supposed to be issued to anyone who wants it for any reason at all, some local USCIS (INS) offices may take weeks or months, and may require proof of a serious emergency.
If you have left the US without advance parole approval, you will most likely have to apply for a "spousal visa" (I-130 Petition for Alien Relative) to re-enter the US. This can take months. Any other legal remedies through US Consulates will be time-consuming as well.
Not all local USCIS (INS) offices will accept the I-131 advance parole application with an adjustment of status package, as some will require that you have proof of filing the I-485 when you send in the I-131. Also, a local USCIS (INS) office may require that you apply for advance parole "in person" (Chicago, for example). Ask your local USCIS (INS) or the newsgroup regarding specific advance parole filing requirements and supporting documents

Thanx for the help Bob & CaliforniaBride, that was really kind of you. You have both confirmed what I thought to be true, so I'll not bother to try & go anywhere, I'll just stay here for another 2 years! Although, I think I might have gone insane by then.......oh dear, too late!!!!!!! I can't believe it's going to take that long, the USCIS website said about 4 months, but over the phone I was told 2 years, quite a big difference, but I'm gonna believe the 2 year one, then I won't be so disappointed. I need a holiday, it's been almost a year & us English people have to have our annual trips!
