I live around the Augusta area but I've been to Atlanta a number of times for Immigration purposes. I hate big cities so not a big fan but if you don't mind elevated traffic and crime then it should be okay.
Like all places, they all have their bad sides, so do your homework when it comes to where to live.
I looked at Atlanta once my Green Card came through for better work opportunities. Always wanted to live here:
Spire Midtown
Very secure building and up to date. My dream is to move in there one day

Atlanta does not rank that high in crime stats. St Louis is #1 I believe. Like anywhere else , be aware of your surroundings and you won't become a victim. I know the building you referred to - it's nice and a hot part of town. 10 -12 years ago that was a notorious hooker district after dark.
