Anyone know about foreclosed homes pruchases?
Hi,
My wife and I shall be moving to Yankysville come January-ish, and have been looking at Florida, on Yahoo real estate to get an idea, and have come across many homes, some of which were foreclosed.
I was wondering if these were good purchases, if anyone here has bought one that was foreclosed, and just for general info.
Cheers me dears

Hiya,
We are hoping to move to Florida towards the end of the year when i have done my nursing exam and got my License. We already have a house out there in Davenport(about 15-20 minutes from Disney).
We bought a Manufactured Home as a foreclosure and to be honest my in-laws saw it and it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. You have to go and have a look.
We got ours for a 1/3 of the price and all it needed was a good clean and a lick of paint. All done between 4 of us in 2 weeks (including looking after our kids!). We also furnished it well at reasonable prices.
Well worth it if you can find the right one for you.
Good luck in your search - see what you can find on the net!

The range is huge from ones like Sue's to those that are not so much as unfit for human habitation as remarkable because they are standing at all! Often they have been inadequately maintained, and as American houses are invariably built from timber they need maintenance to keep them in good shape. To start with you need to inspect for, and spray to prevent, termites or they'll eat your house from around you. American houses typically have asphalt shingles on the roof and they have a maximum life of twenty five years. Siding that clads many houses also has a finite life. It was oh-so easy back in the UK owning a brick-built house with a clay tile roof!
If a house is too cheap to be true, it probably is. Some of the worst ones are in the rough part of town, and you wouldn't want to live in them even if they were habitable. The city where I work has a bad neighborhood a mile or two from downtown and there have been a dozen children and youths murdered in the past six months due to drugs and gang problems.
