Anyone floggin a guitar?
On moving to Kalamazoo, the home of Gibson guitars (that is the justification for starting this thread here as oppose to the Trailer Park ha ha) I expected to pick up a 1965 Les Paul special for peanuts in some pawn shop.
Of course it didn't happen, they are more expensive here than at home - bloody Americans!!! Non the less..................
If anyone is knocking out an acoustic guitar I would be interested. Will pay for shipping so long as the guitar isn't worth less than the cost to fly the bugger to the mid-west.
So, if anyone has an old acoustic that their kid never picked up after mithering for months and saying - I will never ask for anything again I promise dad/mum!!!! Let me know. Thanks in advance and not to hopeful but whaddaya gonna do
PS - it dont have to be a Gibson, I just miss playing The Eve Of Destruction and Redemption Song badly when I am peesed

I play (sort of), and I'd suggest just going to a shop such as Guitar Center, and negotiating the price.
While most people don't do it, you can generally negotiate the price of just about any goods that cost more than a few bucks. I've haggled the price of musical instruments, furniture, A/V equipment, you name it -- it isn't difficult.
I'd suggest doing a bit of online hunting for stuff, and get them to beat -- not just meet that price. Because goods bought out of state from catalogue and online stores generally aren't subject to sales tax, be sure to include this in your haggle so that beating the price includes their absorbing this tax amount. (This is often referred to here as an "out the door" offer, i.e. your offer price is the total cost, inclusive of the tax and other expenses.)
If you want an acoustic, Yamahas have decent tone and reasonable action, and are often good value for the money. Not as nice as a Taylor or a Martin, of course, but it will sound almost as good if you are sufficiently pissed.

I've got one of these I would sell as I don't use it: http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/pro..._sku=100261031
It's not a MD100S but a MD100TVS as it is a darker wood. Do you want a chrome stand as part of the deal? I don't have a guitar case though so I would have to ship it in a box with styrofoam or bubble wrap. Let me know if you haven't found one already.

come here down here for the weekend and visit a pawn shop (or porn shop) - i'm certain you'll find something appropriately tatty
If not, I'll let you have the plank of wood with strings my wife gets out at parties after a few beers - it would do me and friends a big favour

Just buy a cheapie from Guitar Center. I would offer up one of the many guitars lying around our house, but the other arf might not appreciate it. He's something of a collector...

wikipedia to the rescue:
Orville Gibson (born 1856, Chateaugay, New York) started making mandolins in 1894 in Kalamazoo, Michigan USA.
Between 1974 and 1984, production of Gibson guitars was shifted from Kalamazoo to Nashville, Tennessee. Further production plants were also opened in Memphis, Tennessee as well as Bozeman, Montana.
