Anyone else not eat turkey at Thanksgiving ?
Apart from my wife the other five of us do not particularly like turkey plus we go to a Canadian Thanksgiving which is before the US one.
We evolved a system where everyone can nominate two dishes they like.
So far we have pretty good mix of venison, dove, duck, calamari and haggis.

Someone has just knocked on my door, selling alligator. I can send him your way if you like?

We're doing a pre-TG with cousins this weekend and having a roast ham.
TG at the grandmothers, will be a lovely turkey, with lumpy, over cooked mash spuds and the horrid smell of turnips/sprouts and boiled to death carrots.
I like the idea of venison and duck, but a bit pricey.

Oddly enough we were in Egypt and it was considered very bad for him to eat alligator as they ate people a sort of inverse cannibalism.
He was fine munching on fried sheep brains.

I'm doing deep fried turkey this year. I fear I may be going a bit native.

More than a bit native. I'm actually sat outside doing deep fried chickens as a test run right now.

You're not real (redneck) native till you've burnt down at least one trailer with an overflowing turkey fryer.....

We cook a turkey here in Hong Kong and invite over some of the domestic helpers in our building, most who are from the Philippines. They try the turkey, politely smile, and then move to something else.
Then we brought out a bottle of hot Philippines Chili sauce and let them try the turkey with that. Then there were smiles all around as they gobbled it all down.
