Angry Anyone else had fuel stolen from tank?

Just came back from our two thousand mile trip Florida to Maryland and back. Stayed over in Georgia last night and filled up before we booked into motel. This morning we were on empty again. Apparently the petrol cap locks after approx 10 mins. Anyone else had this happen?

No, but I have had my license plate removed from a shopping center in broad daylight. I wasn't in the car at the time...

We have had gas siphoned from our focus, which doesnt have a locking cap. We looked into getting a cap but all the auto part stores couldn't get them in fast enough to meet demand.

Hell no. In Jersey they would never waste time stealing your gas..they'd just take your whole car.

Incidently, Camden beat out Detroit as most dangerous city this year! Woo! Oddly enough, i have the most dangerous city, and a city named as 5th "safest" within the same short driving distance. Gotta love Jersey.

OK, I'm curious. While the Big Three are only about 20 years behind everyone else with locking fuel doors, I thought that even they had anti-siphoning screens on their tanks. So how did they get your fuel? The old fashioned way? Drain bolt? Drilling holes in the tank? Just curious.

I know back in the UK they were punching holes in the fuel tanks with nails (by jacking the car up and dropping it on a block of wood with a nail in it or something?) to get past the screens and or locking caps, how they didn't kill themselves i do not know, all it takes is one spark around some fumes and BOOM! But i guess they don't think! So not only were the little bastards stealing your fuel but f**king up your fuel tank too! makes you wonder sometimes!

A colleague of hubby's was in his garage syphoning petrol from his car for the lawn mower. Never did finish the mowing as he finished up in the ICU badly burned.

Not sure except that the dealership (volvo) said that it is 10 mins or so before the lock is activated after the car is locked. They got it out somehow.

Do you know why there is a 10 min. delay activating the lock?

Siphoned in the US, back in the USA ... ?

no, can't say I have, my old Lincoln doesn't have a lockable cap, but is fitted with an internal device that makes it hard to siphone gas from its tank. But some nice chappie siphoned something called "petrol" from my Vauxhall Back in the UKK, back in the UKK ... back in the UK. The worst thing about this was, the nice chappie who stole this petrol stuff didn't put the "petrol cap" back on my car and it rained Back in the UKK, back in the UKK ... back in the UK. With no petrol cap some water got into the "petrol tank" and my car just would not start Back in the UKK, back in the UKK ... back in the UK. Did I mention that it rained, Back in the UKK, back in the UKK ... back in the UK?

Back in the US, back in the USA ... now I can't get that Bruce Springsteen line out of my head ... Back in the US, back in the USA ... . Still, it beats the Weather Girls line It's Raining Men! Hallelujah! ... Back in the US, back in the USA ... It's Raining Men! Hallelujah! ... then again, perhaps not.

Second year running, I'm 6 miles from Camden, although they are a year behind with those awards, Camden is assuring everyone that they won't be Number 1 this year, hmmm.....
If you go just over the river to the Seaport Museum, you'll see the Police Task Force Portacabins, where they've been camped for a year, nipping over to Camden doing raids.

So that the Volvo owner/driver can fill up with the car doors locked. Just a guess.

Makes Camden, North London, seem positively idyllic in comparison... and that's saying something
