Friend of mine worked for them in the UK and had them all - really liked the car - little bit generic japanese but that is down to personal preference etc.
Good reliable car - hideously uneconomical in the UK - but good gas mileage over here, lots of toys from memory - should be a good choice.

Drive a Forester -- works flawlessly, handles beautifully, no problems.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Outback?
They are pretty bulletproof decent cars and excellent in snow and ice but are quite different to work on so don't take it to places like this for service:
1.Wal Mart.
2.The Shell gas station down the street.
3.Bob's Tire & Repair.
etc
But it should be reliable anyway. Oh, and the flat subaru engines are quite noisy as they are 'water boxer' like a Porsche or old VW. But they are pretty quick with good handling 'cos of four wheel drive.

Oh I think you also have to be White or Japanese to drive ANY Subaru model EVER. Check it out as you see other Subaru owners on the road.

in fact most people I know who have subarus live in colorado, go hunting/fishing/skiing and all other kinds of non-stereotypically gay activities
Englishmum - what outback are you looking at - it seems some are based on the imprenza and some on the legacy
If I was to buy a jap car it definitely would be a subaru - I took the b9 tribeca out for a spin - great car. i don't think the boxer exgine is that suited to automatics really, I think a straight 6 (not gay)/v6/v8 would maybe a better match (rather than the 'flat' 6)

Maybe! However, as a rural, bastard carpenter with little education, I'd go more for a knackered Chevy V8 truck with a gun rack and a Dixie flag.

They drive really well in the ice ..... scared the bejeezuz out of the salesman but didnt buy in the end due to high servicing / parts cost in these parts.
