Anyone from California? NorCal?
I think I was a bit vague on my initial post and it just went out of track. There was no way I can edit my initial post, hence, I have started this new thread. I do hope that the admin and mods understand.
There are possible jobs for me in (Texas, NJ, Arizona, California, NY, Florida...) It'll be an EB immigrant visa. I would like to gather more info from a variety of sources to help me decide.
Weather is a big factor. We prefer a mild weather between 15-28 C and definitely lots of sunshine.
We'd been in Florida on holidays, but it can be excessively humid at times. Not to mention the hurricanes.
This is why California is my first choice. Anyone from California here at all?

Near the coast is cool, with little temperature variation year round.
San Francisco has about 12 deg F variation from hot to cold.
Further inland can get very hot, 100+ San Jose is a good balance.
Personal preference for me is the SF Bay Area or the Central Coast, Monterey to Santa Barbara.

You've pretty much described the weather here in San Francisco, although the sunny bit can depends on where exactly in the city you are!

Next question that might be the deciding factor, what's your budget on housing? And you got family/kids?
California is pretty huge, a lot of variation depending on where you live...if I had a choice, San Diego or Sacramento sound pretty good to me, but that's me.
If your not into heat/humidity, I'd rule Florida, Texas and Arizona out.
NY gets cold in the winter, barmy cold...so you might not be interested in that, and taxes can be pretty bad.
for NJ, do a search for posts by Englishmum, she's posted loads of info about places to stay out there.

Arizona gets the monsoon at a certain time of the year which is humid and along with the heat, to me, is almost unbearable.

Hi, another Norcal'er here.
No brainer really. Depends where you will be working, work back from that.
Coast is cooler than inland and consequently more expensive. Both in temp and otherwise.

Re: Anyone from California? NorCal?
In the San Francisco bay area, the summers are not too hot and the winters are mild.
http://www.weather.com/outlook/drivi...tomnav_driving
Most homes along the SF bay do not have air conditioning and is usually not needed due to the cool nights caused by the fog coming into the bay through the Golden Gate bridge and pushing down the bay during the summer. Only once or twice during the summer does a hot spell occur (usually about 5 days) and a house can overheat when the fog does not come in.
Usually the fog burns off no later than 8 am and arrives after midnight in the south bay (San Jose area). As you get closer to San Francisco, the fog arrives earlier and stays longer making the temperatures in San Francisco much cooler than the south bay. On the western side of San Fransico (pacific ocean side), the fog can remain all day.
Temperatures along the coast (Santa Cruz, Monterery, Carmel, etc.) will normally average about 10ºF-15ºF cooler than the temperatures around the bay (Santa Cruz mountains between the areas). Temperatures east of the east bay hillls (Pleasanton, Livermore, Danville, etc.) will average about 10ºF-15ºF hotter than temperatures around the bay.
It is an unusual occurance for rain to occur in the bay area during the summer and the days are usually bright and sunny (excluding San Francisco if the fog is in). This year the fires in northern California have created bad air quality in the south bay for about 2 weeks so far.
