Hey, I almost forgot. If you are missing any foods from home, you must get yourself over to Jungle Jim's on Route 4 (in Fairfield). It is a pretty large international grocery store, with a sizeable beer and wine section.

I'm in Miamisburg, south of Dayton, so about 30 miles from Cincinnati.

I have to say I'm surprised too at the number of us in the Cincy-ish area.

Ooh and Jungle Jims is the best place ever

When I'm down in that area (fairly regularly), I usually end up there. Their prices had really been cranked up just at the start of the year

Hi Greg - I'm in Cincinnati too - though I'm one of the Yanks on the board. If I can help you get settled in any way let me know. What neighborhood are you living in? That can make a big difference too regarding meeting people.

We've down every 6 weeks or so, more for the range of stuff than necessarily the British section. The little Irish shop there is much cheaper than the British area for stuff like pickled onions!

Back to Greg's original post, does anyone fancy meeting up for a swift half somewhere over the next month or so? Don't mind travelling if required.

I'll be moving there on the 31st March and 4 of my mates will be over from the 18th April until the 27th (My wedding's on the 25th April) ... So we'll be "out and about" doing stuff

I'm Alan/Al, I've been here in KY for over 6 years. I lived in Lexington for 4 of those, Frankfort for 2, and am moving back to Lexington at the end of this month (was just too bored in Frankfort). To my surprise, I'm 33 now! (How the hell did that happen?) Married, two kids (1yo + almost 6), self employed (advertising). Wife is a 'native' so just me, though I've Anglicised her a lot over the 7 years or so.

I've resolved to meet some like-minded individuals as I've just never settled since I arrived. My wife is American and despite the supposed huge presence of ex-pats and Irish here, I've met a total of 3 in my 6 years and none since I stopped playing indoor footy about 3 years ago. I find making a connection with people here hard, and unless the average Kentuckian starts substituting the words Church for Pub, Jesus for football/soccer and iced tea for nice cold Stella, I fear I may never fit in. So, best bet is to go with what you know...

If anyone is still around and interested in getting together for a beer, a game or whatnot please drop me a line. I'll keep popping in to see if anything is happening....but I've not noticed any Lexington folk so far. We go to Louisville occassionally, Cincy too.
