Any US programs like homes under the hammer or similar house restoration/renovation?
Just wondering if there were any US programs similar to the ones in the UK eg. Homes under the hammer, Grand Designs, Location, Location, Location or other home renovation programs that weren't scripted and full of drama.

My mother in law watches one when she comes over to look after the kids, but can't remember what it's called. It's on some obscure channel. I watched one episode where an American couple were relocating to Bracknell, idiots LOL. They filmed a few scenes in my old local which was weird.

Many. Most are pretty unrealistic. The best US TV show on house renovations is "This Old House" on PBS. The Canadian "Holmes on Homes" is also very good, though I don't know if they still make it.

The latest series of "Property Brothers" is being filmed in our neck of the woods - they've even been filming a couple of streets from our house. We're hopng the area gets a boost in property values from it

Other than This old house there is a canadian show usually plays after or before it can't remember its name, not Holmes. Hometime.
Not completely drama free but I am warming to rehab addict on hgtv. She does some good work sometimes.

I like TOH - some useful tips there, if a little annoying sometimes (like the home visits with the "homeowners" (actors?) reading scripts). Per md95065 anyway.
I just watched most of season 1 of Flip or Flop - it's interesting for me as it's relatively local, similar design houses etc. I don't think it's overly dramatic but of course they have the "challenges" and clearly some bits are scripted (again, awkward "conversations" between the people). He never negotiates what his contractor says though, at least on TV, so that part is a bit dubious.
I liked the Holmes ones too, but there's been some criticism of the work quality. Probably true of most to be honest though.

There's quite a few of that type of programme on HGTV. "Love it or List It", "Flipping Vegas" is another one.

Thank you everyone! Goodluck rjps hope it does, do share if you find out the prices go up at all.
I'm in Massachusetts. Was hoping to find some programs about updating old Victorian homes. Not gutting, just updating. I miss how well made, and informative the UK ones are. The US ones just feel like scripted drama and so don't feel like any kind of education.
We learnt quite a bit from the UK programs (plus doing our own searching, learning, tutorials etc) and got a good idea of costs etc involved. Do they talk figures in these programs?
I just checked our subscription and we don't have HGTV which seems to be where these programs are. I'll see if I can watch them online perhaps.
