I met (an American) bloke at Fado's during one of the WC matches, who lives in Austin but teaches history in Geronimo (yes, that's really a town folks!). One of my daughter's fave teachers teaches middle school American history. It can be tough to get a job here because of all the young'uns continually pumped out of UT, but the two examples I mention I chose because they were male and are unconventional (both have long blond dreadlocks).

I am talking about Metropolitan New York City area though! I do remember that a friend of mine had a job instantly as a teacher 3 weeks after she arrived in NYC.
