OK we have now become telepathic :scared:

Bought my halloween outfit last month. Went to one of those speciality stores. In our neighbourhood all the kids get dressed up and the neighbours do amazing things to their homes. One of our neighbours counts 600+ pieces of candy handed out. It's amazing. It takes a couple of hours to get around the neighbourhood due to all the houses open and decorated. Some of them are turned into haunted houses etc and the whole family are dressed up. Hubby did it the first year we were here but he stays home with a beer and Tivo now. But for my son and I the novelty has not worn off.

And for xmas it's bizzare. The whole neighbourhood is decked in white lights. In fact they have a particular way of doing it. It's a huge affair and and obligation! Hubby moved in here at xmas one year and the neighbours were round asking him if he wanted help putting up the lights while the delivery van was still on the driveway! But people come from everywhere to look, it's like blackpool illuminations. Only one problem it takes so long to get home in the evening because the streets are jam packed. When anyone visits from England they are gobsmacked by it.

And frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way!

My daughter's elementary school do not celebrate Halloween as some people object to it for religious reasons.Instead we have a hoedown 10 days before .Shame really as on Halloween we have tons of people giving out candy and dressing up.All good fun, our street is one of the busiest in the town.

Good question.

Her last school in NJ always did a parade on Halloween and all the kids dressed up.
