Default Any Bovril in Chicago

Hi,Would anyone know of any British food shops in Chicago/Schaumberg area? I used to order my Bovril from Amazon but they have stopped selling the original brand. Has anyone ever tried to order directly from wholesalers in UK? Appreciate any tips.Gezza

Didn't think you could get it any more in the US...don't know how my mother managed to bring it in as hand luggage on her last visit.

Tad annoying as it's minging and I'd asked for Marmite, but there you go

Never seen Bovril over here - you can get Marmite at World Market. So you're in Schaumburg? I lived there before I moved to Ohio. Really enjoyed living in Chicagoland (except the traffic was a nightmare)!

I think because it's a meat extract it's now banned, possibly because of mad cow? Not sure, anyway I love it too and have had to pack loads loads when back home. The trouble is, it doesn't keep well and they tend to expire after about a month of purchase.

Useless information of the day: my father used to work for Bovril until they were bought out by Jimmy Goldsmith in the 70's. I'm pretty sure my mum used to put it in every casserole and gravy she ever made. He used to bring home cases of Bovril crisps. Nyom.

I'm having trouble finding UK foods at all in Chicago!
Weetabix was in Jewel last year but seems to have disappeared, and the Tetley 'British' tea is a pale imitation.
I'm in the UK during most of January and am wondering how much Bisto, Oxo and Tetley tea I can manage to bring back.

If you've got a Ocean State Job Lots, you find those for a buck a packet which is pretty decent.

You can't bring back the meat oxo cubes but the rest is unlimited - as much as the suitcases can handle! I was asked once if I was setting up a cheese and chocolate store!!

My husband is a light packer but he padded his case with Punjana tea for me There is no limit provided you don't go over the total customs allowance (you can go over the allowance, you just might have to pay some nominal duty).

Have some great news for you: Indeed Jewel have run out of Weetabix. But there is one shop where you will still find plenty: Mariano's supermarket on x of Barrington and Golf Road in Schaumberg. Isle 12.
