The Anti Holiday

Re: The Anti Holiday
On the subject of US history, I find the way Benjamin Franklin and James Madison are portrayed in Canadian history to be quite fascinating, because they both come across as jingoistic war mongers akin to Dick Cheney in Canadian history but in the US, Benjamin Franklin is portrayed as the grandfather of the country and James Madison is revered for writing the Bill of Rights.
There's some quote from Benjamin Franklin after the fall of Québec to the British where he wrote that he looked forward to the day when there were more Britons in America than Britons in Britain.

Re: The Anti Holiday
I've been in the states for five years and today absolutely has to be the worst day of the year to be here. I was at a 4th of July picnic my first year here and some drunk stuck his finger in my face telling me how "we kicked your #$$ two hundred years ago!" Akward! Then last year my house was "egged" on the 4th when I flew the Union Jack.. I'm laying low today, not going out, not doing anything.

Re: The Anti Holiday
I had to spend July 4th with my inlaws. That made it an Anti Holiday this year.
