Another driving license question...

Another driving license question...
I've looked into this via the search button up top, but cannot find the answer...I am going to visit the DMV tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this before I go...
I am living in Virginia, having coming out here end of January on a K1 visa. After the summer (late August / Early September) I will be looking to get my US driving license. I have not obtained it before now as we have not been able to afford for me to be put onto the car insurance, what with just my husband working.
However, on the VA DMV website it says that I have to show them proof of legal presence. One of the suggested items is an unexpired I94 but mine ran out in April.
Do you think it would be enough to show them my EAD card when it arrives?
Or will I have to wait until my PR application is (hopefully!) approved? I hope I don't have to wait at then or my job options will really be limited

here you go, each state have their own rules so the VA rules would probably differ from any other...

I took my passport, SSN, and EAD, I didnt take a bill as I had my adress still attached to my SSN!
If I were you, I would go to the DMV with the expectation of having to leave again and go back! That way you wont be disappointed.

>>Unexpired Employment Authorization Card (I-688A, I-688B
or I-766
That's your EAD.

YW.
Did you check that out about the insurance, or just assume it would be a lot? Because mine went up amazingly little from adding the DH, so I wondered...
Another vehicle costs more of course (in all ways) but if it's just to get you driving... Also, you've probably noticed that driver's licenses are handy ID for all sorts of uses here. In fact, once you become a PR, you go get your SS card updated and you can use that and your DL when you get hired for a job and never have to show the green card.
(nothing's simple, is it)

Can't speak for out there, but here, adding the missus would have doubled the rate, then again she still hasnt' got a license, well it's more because we couldn't afford the insurance if she did.

At the moment we are living paycheck to paycheck, only a couple of hundred dollars for anything that isn't bills or groceries, so can insurance was something that was on a back burner until I was a lot closer to working and bringing in a wage!

When my wife put me and my car on her car insurance her premiums actually went DOWN. So now she's paying $200 less a year with one more car and one more driver, and I dropped my own insurance ($220/6 months).
