As my husband is now out of work and we have no income as he hasnt yet found work. Is it ok for a friend to co sponser me on the I864? Also is this done with assets or the money that he earns? Including his household size it would be for 4 people, me and my son, him and his gran. What is the correct proceedure for this? My husband does have all his last 3 year tax returns that show he was above the 125% poverty level. Are the INS likely to deport me even though my son is so settled here in his new elementary school?

Thanks

Of course you can use the co-sponsor. This should work fine. If the co-sponsor
qualifies on income, then NO asset information is needed, just employer letter and
the income tax returns. He completes a seperate I-864 and your husband does his own
I-864 and BOTH of these I-864's are submitted together. Alvena

Hi Alvena

Thanks for your response. My co-sponser wont qualify on income alone, but he does have $140,000 in assets. Will this be enough? That will be for him (a us citizen) his gran (a us citizen) me and my son. He doesnt have to have enough for my husband as well does he, the US Citizen i married?

Thanks
