I was totally out of the loop by then, obviously.

There was such a fuss made about them, mediocre as they were. They fizzled out quite rapidly.
Kings new clothes and all that.

Well, yes. But apart from peace, and established the Roman Catholic Church, and ultimately the Church of England. And the Episcopalian Church, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Introduced sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system, and public health?

I know the couple who minister an Episcopal church here in Texas. I do know that the congregation have paid for their vacation week in Mexico including spending money for the past 3 years. The wife told me herself without shame and said it like it was expected of the congregation to look after them for a week for all they do during the year?? She even posted a picture of them sitting on the beach on Facebook and thanked everyone ...

Not saying all are like that but I have read on different the church websites about the expected tithe and the requirement of weekly commitment as well as fully immersed baptism even if you have already been baptized it is an expectation to join their church....

Hi, I'm in Fort Worth and go to All Saints Episcopal.
It's what we'd consider high church in the UK, slightly more catholic than I'd like but I feel comfortable there.
