Amex Promotion: Spend $25 Get $25 Credit "Small Business Saturday"

I don't think any of the local businesses that I go to will take AmEx anymore...the seller fees are too high. A furniture maker told me a couple of years ago that AmEx charges him about 6 or 7%, compared with 1 or 2% for visa/MC. (I ended up paying for the large order by cash for a discount and we both walked away happy!)

AMEX Small Business Saturday gives a $25 credit per unique card number. Additional users on AMEX-issued AMEX cards have unique numbers, so therefore by adding family members you can multiply the number of $25 credits available. Some of our AMEX accounts are fee-free, others have the first year free (where I cancel after 11 months) and others I willingly pay the fee as the value of the benefits provided far outweigh the cost of the fee. All of the cards were taken for travel-related benefits of some form or other, Small Business Saturday is just the icing on the cake.

Just a 'heads up' for American Express credit card holders (except for corporate cards):
Amex is repeating the "Small Business Saturday" promotion this year. It's taking place the day after 'Black Friday' on Saturday 26th November.
If you are a customer of a small independent business on that day and spend at least $25, Amex will credit your account by $25. It includes local (not chain) restaurants and all kinds of retailers - even tyre shops and small businesses, even if they're located in a hick country town or in NYC.
I got the $25 credit last year when I purchased Christmas gifts in a local gift shop. It's a win-win as it helps the small independent retailers (I spent more on the gifts) and the customer benefits by getting a 'free' $25 credit from Amex
You have to register your Amex card beforehand though:

So - what did we all get?
We bought a fair few Christmas pressies for the family and also some nice books and toys for the Sproutlet (including a fancy wooden Brio train-set).
Mrs tonrob got some creams and cosmetic type thingies. I got a nice bumper haul of the kinds of beer I'd rarely spend my own money on - you know, the kind that's been aged in oak barrels, corks in the top, upwards of 10% lubbly jubbly cold evening type of stuff. Also stocked some gaps in the rest of the booze cupboard with a bottle of Jagermeister and a big bottle of vodka.
Oh - and got our nice Mexican lunch covered while we were out shopping to boot!
Roll on next year, when I really intend to go large!

We had half our lunch paid for at a local steak house.
By knowing we were getting $25 bucks back, we were a little more generous with the Tip...Win win....
Does Amex publish how many people take this offer up? or how many people register?

They stated there was a limit in numbers, I believe - but I don't know if they said how many it was. I read that people were attempting to register on the day (although I'm not sure if successfully or not).
