American senior returns to Canada
An American lady in her 80's has returned to Ottawa after 8 years in New York State.
She had married a Canadian and in doing so gained Canadian Citizenship. Her husband died 9 years ago and she decided to return to the US to be near her son.
She has a couple of reasons for returning, but one big reason was that she missed our health system.
I seems that although the US Medicare system is supposed to somewhat mirror Universal health care it doesn't. Her main complaint was the amount of bureaucracy and additional cost that came out of pocket.
Unlike our system you have to be very knowlegeable to get the best health care and again it is the insurance companies that are responsible for so much of the confusion.
The poor still get inferior treatment.
How long before the US provides universal basic health care for all? Never if the insurance companies continue to control the Government.

Re: American senior returns to Canada
Pretty good except for the cooldown in our weather.
Ottawa and most of Canada has weather the recession much better than the US or UK, ( no bank failures or bailouts) but the future still looks poor especially for the Auto industry.
Last weekends Marathon had perfect weather, 36000 took part.
The Britnet forum is as good as dead.
