Liquid cheese!
or maybe tostones, good fried chicken, hot wings, 1lb burgers with buttered buns (!)
That's just the start.

Wild Maine blueberries
Cold water Maine shrimp
Maine Lobster
Fresh, proper maple syrup
Annies MacCheese probably, well it's a quick easy snack and the baby loves it
Nasty, but I love bloomin' onions every now and again and I'd probably miss that
The home fries from the local diner are awesome

"Now made without high fructose corn syrup"
Why the fck do they always have to go and ruin everything? First, all the candy bars get smaller, then Cracker Jacks changes to shitty prizes and only has 1.15 peanuts in each box and now this. And I love how they market it as a good thing...

Re: American Food
Mexican food in general
Chipotles and chipotle-flavoured stuff
Red Robin 5-Alarm veggieburger
Deep-fried pickles
Plentiful, cheap blueberries
Plentiful, cheap blueberry-flavoured stuff
Eggplant grinders
Gorgeously thin New York style plain cheese pizzas
New York cheesecake too
Breakfasts at diners (especially fried eggs, something that we Brits tend to murder back home)
If it counts as food (and it does) - beer from many of the brilliant microbreweries

Re: American Food
Decent mexican food - Good takeaway burritos especially
Almost any fruit and veg from our local farmers market (Cabrillo College in Aptos) - particularly :
bunches of cheap and tasty basil (to make pesto sauce)
heirloom tomatoes
different asian salads and beans
persimmons
beautiful apples and oranges
pasilla peppers
Reasonably cheap source of fresh salmon and tuna - cheap enough to buy a whole fish to smoke it
I can grow most of these (except persimmons) but never seem to have the same taste. I cant get pasilla peppers back here in the UK and they were the only ones that gave me the flavour needed to make a vegetarian version of chorizo (using tofu - dont scoff my tofu chorizo enchiladas were always the first to go at the local street party)

Re: American Food
You need to move to The South. The food here is fantastic.
Shrimp, crawfish, catfish, po-boys, biscuits, rice and gravy, red beans and rice, fried chicken, gumbo, boudin, jambalaya. It's all good.
The food in this part of Louisiana is WAY better than most of the food I ever ate in England. And it's pretty cheap too.
