Which offers best value for money and good content? Have been streaming thru Netflix for a while and love that they have loads of UK stuff. Some of their content might be a little old but that doesn't really bother me for 7.99 a month, bargain. Been checking out amazon instant a bit lately but seems most up to date stuff you have to pay for, same goes for Hulu. So? Might as well just stick with Netflix?? Or not?

Personally I think Netflix has the best selection for a single fee - as you said the other services tend to charge on top for premium items.

We use a Roku. It breaks down like this: Roku: one-time payment of about 40 dollars. Amazon Prime: I have it anyway because I order a lot from Amazon, so essentially free for TV. Netflix and Hulu: Shrug. Acorn TV (streaming channel): well worth the yearly cost (and I scored another years' renewal in advance before they raised their prices, so I'm set till sometime in 2015, but I'd still subscribe at present prices). NowhereTV (streaming channel): good for BBC news and stuff. No further monthly outlay.

It's not terrific quality a lot of the time (it depends on the streaming quality), but yes!

We use Amazon as it also means we get free delivery of most of our Amazon.com goodies we buy.

We use all three...we ditched our cable and got Netflix for the movies, then got Hulu Plus to replace the loss of our DVR for things on the local channels, and Amazon covers a bit of stuff that isn't on Netflix, mostly kids stuff Netflix lost contract rights for.

Amazon Prime is worth the annual fee if you shop there or own a Kindle and like to borrow free books. I like that Under the Dome was on there before anywhere else, too.

BTW, Amazon Prime will not stream to Android Jelly Bean. Netflix does.

We've been considering dumping cable for a while now. It's hard to figure out what we would miss being able to get.

We don't watch that many shows really ...
We watch quite a few movies and a bunch of stuff from Food Network (Chopped / Food Truck Race... That sort of thing). Also some stuff on Bravo... Top Chef etc. Oh, and The Amazing Race.

Walking Dead, Under the Dome, Top Gear... That's about it.

The rest of our viewing tends to be UK stuff mainly.

We have Amazon Prime already, so that's a start. We also have a PC that is permanently attached to the TV and we have a VPN for the UK stuff already in use.

We have never seen Netflix, so I have no idea how much non-movie content there is, or how often it updates. Ditto iTunes.

Netflix is good, as you can use a UK VPN and then when you log in, you get the UK catalogue which is different.

Amazon, is good if you're using it for the Kindle and the free 2 day shipping. No Android app unless you have a Kindle Fire though, but the iOS app now finally can push video, it was only audio before the recent fix. Good collection of Brit shows, old and new for free. Recent shows seem a bit pricey though. Good kids content and decent selection of free, new movies.

Yeah, We have Prime for shipping / Kindle really... TV is a bonus, so we won't be dropping it.
Trying to figure out just how much hassle (and expense) it will be to keep as much of what we watch as possible and still drop the cable.

Cable is only really handy for sports and kids shows. Sure there are dodgy online streaming sites for the sports, but they're hit or miss on quality.

Do like the PlayTo app on Android though as that can push to the WDTV as well as a bunch of other media players and TV's and it does websites, though the freebie doesn't have BBC iPlayer, though still a decent listing of other website/channels and the premium is only a few bucks.

In addition to the PC (Win7) that is hooked up to the TV now, we also have a couple of iPads, and a Surface tablet kicking around. No Android devices though, unfortunately.

I guess I need to start poking around to see what shows stream and from where.
I wish I could see the content list from Netflix without bothering to sign up but I guess I might have to do the free month, just to see how it is.
