Default Am I allowed to ship camping tents?

Hello,

We are hoping to move to the US in August so am trying to sort out what to bring/leave/ship by air/ship by boat/bring on plane.

My husband says that he read somewhere that we are not allowed to bring our camping tents. I've been searching around but haven't seen tents listed anywhere as prohibited items.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this?

Thanks!

Sorry I can't help...but your movers should be able to inform you as to what items you can or cannot take.

Mine came over in my sea shipment with no issue. I'd imagine any issue is around potential mud/bugs/diseases it may carry on it, like any outdoor item. I can't remember it being on the prohibited items list that I had from my shipper (Pickfords).

We brought tents, wellies, bikes, plant pots etc. We cleaned it all thoroughly first to get rid of any mud.

We are moving and are expecting to ship our tent - using Arpin. AS with Yellowroom's experience of Pickfords - no mention of tents on the list of exclusions.

Camping tents are not prohibited so you are free to take them with you, as others have said the concern and suggestion they may be an issue probably comes from whether they carry traces of soil etc. so make sure you give them a good clean to avoid any problems.

As an afterthought, best if you break it down and fold it up before shipping it.
