Alien registration # -vs- A #
 

Hi all,

What is an Alien Registration number? My wife is on a K3 visa. Would she have one? Is the Alien Registration # the same as the A# asked for on many forms? On her K3 approval notice there is a number that begins with an A right above her name... What is this number?

Yes the A in A# is an abbreviation for the word Alien.

On that note, the number (#) following the abbreviation A# is her Alien Registration Number.

On the I-797 it is my experience that some service centers place the A# above the beneficiary's name on the notice of action and/or the notice of approval.

How long is the Alien Registration number? Someone told me that an A# is only issued when a Green Card is issued... Is that True?

That is not true. It is nine digits and starts with "0"

Perhaps this person who is spreading bogus information thought the A# on the documents meant Airhead.
