alien to citizen (how long)

Hi everyone, further to my previous posts;

I have found out that my father, who is married to a US citizen and has lived and worked in the US for the last 20 years, still is classed as an alien as he doesnt yet have full citizenship.

(Dont worry, he has done everything legally, but just hasnt seen the need to get full citizenship until now)

My question is this:

Does anyone know how long it would take for my father to become a full citizen, ie If he applied now, when would he become a US national.

Im asking because until he becomes a US citizen, I cannot apply for my K4 visa.

Thanks for any light you can shed.

(sorry, just realised I shouldve posted this in the immagration section
Chris.

Chris.
Suggest you post this same question on the alt.visa.us.marriage-based forum indicating exactly where he will be filing (State and INS office). Or at least where he lives now, so that people can figure out where he should be filing. This is because timelines vary depending on where you file. As for me, it was about 11 mths. from filing to oath ceremony. You could check out my timeline and details at this link:
