Default Air travel auction sites

Has anyone used the auction sites to get cheap flights/holidays? If so, are they any good and would you recommend them?

I looked at sky auctions site and some of the deals are very tempting.

I haven't, but there's a few threads of people talking about them in the past, well travel in general and they got thrown around...

http://p070.ezboard.com/bpricelineandexpediabidding

that's quite a good site to check out.

http://www.kayak.com/ that's not an auction site, but it is pretty good for finding deals all the same.

Just DO your homework first-check out the hotel etc !!! Just because it's a good deal doesn't mean it's all you would want. When I am not familiar with a hotel I am using for clients, I check it out in reference materials, either online or professional guides to make sure it's not a cockroach heaven. A quick way for you to do that is look at www.tripadvisor.com . For the most part those are reliable hotel reviews written by people who have stayed there. I'm sure there are others out there that are similar- frommer's website always good.

I've just received a 'newsflash' in an e-mail from http://www.travelzoo.com

It reports that http://www.cheapcaribbean.com has special Summer offers on right now...

(You need to sign up for their websites to get the offers by e-mail)

.....for example 6 nights at the (very nice/upscale) Westin Hotel in Aruba including flights for $699 per person (from New York, presumably the price is different for departures from other destinations) and the offer is from now until October 31st (you need to book by June 20th)

http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/specia...jsp?pacID=2281

Cheapcaribbean has other others on too.....definitely worth taking a look...
