Hi there
Can someone point me in the right direction to examples of the affidavits from friends to support the aos interview evidence? How many of these do you actually need?
Thanks guys

w.r.t the number of sworn letters, it can vary. One couple was asked to provide 4, while i am aked to give 3 by the same office in Arlington.
Your AOS interview letter should include the details for this requirement.

Two would be quite sufficient. The format in this link should work:

You need at least two of these affidavits. You can find samples here: http://www.weslow.net/users/alixtcat/aff-
idavi.htm
But, check out the whole site, it will help you more than you know.

We didn't provide any. We weren't asked for any. We were successful with our AOS
('es - 3 of them, namely 1 K1 and 2 K2).

They ask for 2 (if you file them) but there is NO requirement for affidavits..it is
just one kind of evidence they will accept as proof of relationship.

They are not.
They are one of many different "proofs" of a legitimate relationship that you
can provide.
Most people should have enough other evidence to establish this, such as joint
leases, loans, credit cards, bank statements, life insurance policies, photos etc.
top not have to trouble friends and familiy with those affidavits.....

I would suggest follow the format Ranjini suggested at
http://k1.exit.com/751b.html
Remember, the more proof you have the better it would be. I would get atleast two,
one from your friend/family and the other from her family/friend.
In my case, I got one from my brother, her mother, and one of her friend and one of
my friend.
The letter should state both of you names, how he/she(the person writing the letter)
knows about your relationship and have it notorized. Thanks

You do not "need" them at all.

Re: Affidavits from friends for AOS
We have our AOS interview next week and our letter simply advised us to bring "evidence of co-mingling of finances".
We're going to have one letter, from our closest family friends because its easy. Thats it.

Re: Affidavits from friends for AOS
We didn't take any letters from friends or family when we had our AOS interview at Tampa 2 years ago. They only wanted to see our letters from both of our employers. That was it!!! They weren't interested in all of the other documents I'd taken as proof of our relationship!!!! We sailed through it all in about 5 minutes and left with the I 551 stamp in my passport no problem. Quite an anti climax after all the worrying if I had enough stuff for them.

Oh, I think they are needed. One wouldn't go out without the spare tire in truck,
would one? ;o)

Re: Affidavits from friends for AOS
You said yourself you were not asked for them either......
If you wish to irritate your friends and family for that totally unnecessary
exercise, that is fine...........but not what most people want to do, which is why
the questions about their "need" come up.
Nobody will be denied an AOS for not having the affidavits......... Of those that get
denied....not having the affidavits (itself) is the least of the INS's worry with
that couple.
(Yes...I carry a spare tire..... but you are suggesting carrying a spare engine with
these affidavits.)
