Default affidavit and co-sponsor

Does the co-sponsor need to submit a birth certificate/passport to show he is a US citizen?

THanks,

JAG

Yes. Read affidavit of support instruction on page 3-4.

Or a proof he is a Permanent Resident. A PR can be a sponsor

Yes, the co-sponsor has to submit all information required in the I-864. Proof of US
citizenship is required. His last three tax returns etc. as well.

This would be for the I-134, but I guess the same applies for this affidavit, right?

Thanks everyone,

A co-sponsor can be a permanent resident and does not have to be a US citizen

I think some people are confused. To file the I-129F one has to prove US
Citizenship. This is the ONLY reason to include a birth certificate or passport or
Natz. Cert.

NOWHERE, NOWHERE on the I-134 is "birth certificate" mentioned. Nowhere. I don't
know how clear to say this.

So, although a BC is required of the petitioner if US born to prove US Citz., for no
other reason is it needed in the I-129F part of the process.

A JOINT sponsor may be any USC or USPR. No BC is necessary for the I-134. Period.

My understanding is the sponsor has to prove eligibility as a citizen or permanent
resident. Someone previously mentioned getting an RFE for that reason.
