As far as money is concerned the cheapest way to do it is use your debit/atm card to get money from the hole in the wall.. been doin it for years and have saved a fortune over the greedy exchange services.. also chase tells me that the warranty service on my credit card applys abroad..... as for the warrentless comment about privatized rail network being betterI spent 12 yrs working for BR workshops repairing the damage caused by the great unwashed public. I have also travelled on the private system it AIN'T no better

Hi pants!

this Rail Card was for over 60s, or Family & Friends?

Haha - I'm nowhere near 60 so it would be the other choice! Up to three other people can travel with you I think.

Wasn't sure since you didn't mention how many were traveling. As long as there is a (five to fifteen year old) kid on board with you then you qualify. Up to four kids and four adults.

Nice link. Always wanted to get an unlimited UK train pass. These ones are cheaper as they are only open to people who DON'T live in the UK.

I think it would be cool. Travel light with enough money for hotels etc and just see where you ended up.

The longest UK train trip I ever took was from Southampton to Aberdeen. It was direct. No changes. Took about 11 hours and was great.
