i have taken the advice given ,thanks .im now waiting on phone call from consulate in chicago ..im not a troll im just a first timer in the us and its gone wrong .sorry if i seem a bit thick im just out of my depth here ...

Just another suggestion which has helped me in the past when I needed money abroad is to call your UK bank and ask them for a new/extension to your overdraft. Depending on the bank, they may honour this even though you have no income. Some banks even have 'guaranteed' overdraft limits depending on account conduct. (your minimal income may have a negative impact on this though). Worth a try.
