Default Advantages/disadvantages of US citizenship

We are seriously considering USC but would love to hear your views on the subject.

Advantages: No more BCIS (ex INS)

Disadvantages: You have to actively swear loyalty to a State, which can be quite tough, depending on how one views the actions around the world of that State.

The number one reason per USCIS for people becoming Citizens is so they can bring more of their brood over ...

To me it is a simple choice of whether you get to vote in the country you live in. I have no intention of ever living permanently in the UK again so pursuing citizenship here is the only thing that makes sense.

Plus, of course, you will never have to renew your GC again.

Not sure as yet whether to go for citizenship, still have almost 2 and half years before I can anyway, and somedays I'm not sure I'll make it that long But one major advantage to me personally, is the fact that I have a daughter from a previous relationship who obviously doesn't have automatic citizenship like her younger brothers. If I became a USC then it would give her the same options as her siblings. I think that makes some kinda sense even though it was a bit of a ramble?

Although I think it would make it easier for your daughter I don't think it would guarantee her USC.

This is one of my main reasons, my oldest two are from a previous relationship, they would automatically gain citizenship with me, my youngest is a USC, if she were to live here for the rest of her life I would like to make the road easier to be with her.

On the upside, having USC means ur an American. On the downside, having USC means ur an American.

THERE IS LIFE AFTER USC, no need to stop watching DS9

Its just a bunch of words - I wouldn't worry about that too much. Dealing with the BCIS is reason enough to decide to get citizenship for me. I might do it this year. The right to vote is the main other reason, and I guess it's a bit harder to get deported?

What about taxes (inhertance tax, filing US taxes even if you go back to UK ect)?
