For that length travel Insurnace won’t work, I have seen backpackers travel insurance that is longer, but I assume it will have age limits.

You could try to google “snowbird insurance” (lots of Canadians do what you are proposing and must have some sort of coverage).

I used Cigna for employees in Singapore a couple of years ago, the policies were global, but to keep the cost down you had an option of excluding USA. I doubt they would cover for only 6 months, you would have to maintain the policy 12 months a year (but you would then have private cover in the UK). I only ever got rates for workers in the 25-40 age range. I think it’s was maybe $2k a month for a couple excluding USA, and maybe double that including. So if you are older maybe $2-3k a month. So maybe $25-35k a year for good comprehensive coverage if you actaualy want non emergency access to healthcare while here. I think BUPA offer similar international coverage.

Annual policy?

Presume you would have to explain that you would be living in the US and not just visiting for a few weeks.

Annual policies have limits for individual trips.

You can certainly but long term travel insurance, the first hit from a google search. https://www.staysure.co.uk/long-stay-travel-insurance/

Now what the market will be in 3 years or 10 years or whatever, well who knows.

Travel insurance often has very limited coverage for emergencies / repatriation only. So this would not provide access to healthcare like the NHS or Local health insurance in the US does.

Absolutely not the same, and yes repatriation is a major component. OP has not come back so I have a feeling that will be another talking to ourselves thread.

Yep, splitting where you live in 2 places is always going to be an expensive exercise, especially when international, but plenty of Canadians do it so it must be doable. I guess with Brexit Spain etc won’t be an easy option anymore, I would think there would be cheaper options in Central America.

Logical there is a market for Canadians, I know people with second homes in Florida but none of them stay that long.
