Sorry, but I fail to see the humor in the success story of this man. That fact that state of Tennesee embraced him so lovingly is hardly a cause for laughter.

Unless....you feel he is unworthy of such an honor......

So, to summarize, you really don't find anything in this thread funny, and you object to others insinuating that anything in this thread could be construed as funny.

And you're offended on behalf of Mr. Reed, who is not currently, nor has ever been, your father (living or deceased), if anyone were to suggest that his being voted Tennessean of the Year could in any way be seen as amusing.

Have I missed anything, or does that just about cover your lack of amusement?

<--- that's a reminder that I'm just joking. I didn't really think that Mr. Reed was your father.

Define "funny".

And you're offended on behalf of Mr. Reed, who is not currently, nor has ever been, your father (living or deceased), if anyone were to suggest that his being voted Tennessean of the Year could in any way be seen as amusing.
I'm not offended, but I am touched by the friendly outgoing nature of my fellow countrymen. The fact that they could be so welcoming to a foreigner suggest that there might be a bit of hope for us poor yanks after all.

Have I missed anything, or does that just about cover your lack of amusement?
I'm only amused when something is actually funny.

<--- that's a reminder that I'm just joking. I didn't really think that Mr. Reed was your father.

Just for the record, he isn't my mother either.
