The gunman killed five and sixteen survived. It occured at Northern Illinois University.

Yeah sorry I am skype with him now! He's in Il and lots of his school friends went to N.IL so he is pretty cut up about it. But this is apparently the 4th school shooting in a week?!? When will ppl get the msg about gun control

But it doesnt take a genius to work out that there must be some sort of correlation between the amount of guns out there and these school shootings. Then again I guess here they just use knives.

N.I.U. is one of the Colleges for which I occasionally drive for. Nice Students and just about the last place you would expect something like this to occur.
It's located about 90 miles from where my company is based.
Edit: (9:00pm Update) News Media Outlets are now reporting that the Gunman killed 5 people, along with himself. This has been confirmed by the University's President in a Press Conference.
Several others remain in Critical Condition.
It's sad, and there is no excuse for it.

One of the biggest problems in all of these shootings is the media. They unwittingly do exactly what the shooters want, by plastering their names and pictures everywhere, giving them instant fame for the wrong reasons.
Maybe we'd see fewer shootings if the media were forced to never reveal names or pictures.

Absolutely agree. I think NBC disgraced itself by airing the video from the Va Tech shooter. Should have just handed it over to the police.
