Default 100K BA executive club miles for free!!

Don't know if this has been posted here before, but the latest BA credit card-Visa signature, will deposit 50,000 miles into your account when you use it for the first time, and another 50,000 if you spend $2000 in the first 3 months or do a balance transfer. Both my wife and I applied and got one, and we transferred a balance so have a tidy 200,000 miles, enough for 4 free returns to the UK sitting in the bank!

Better read this before booking on BA for the Christmas season...

yeah..we just signed up for this. It will work out great...assuming BA actually survives the strike that is being planned for Xmas/NewYears. Won't do a fat lot of good to have miles for an airline that's out of business.

I predicted to my boss (who flies BA twice a week) back in September that they will be bust by early 2010.

I am still standing by that bet.

Just got our cards today: we weren't planning on visiting the UK in 2010, but we may revise our plans just to make sure we can use the miles before BA goes titsup...

We just got our cards today too! We have no idea if/when we'll actually be able to use the miles. Just hope they stay in business long enough for us to use them.

BA have got some serious troubles ahead of them.

In no particular order, these include a proposed second strike, a pension hole that looks like the US deficit does and the DOJ investigation, put into that mix with the recession and their premium traffic is basically screwed. Toss in extra hassles with security thanks to the Xmas day stuff, and you do not get a company fir for business. When the CEO comes out and says we are fighting for survival, its serious.

They probably wouldn't be allowed to go under but perhaps you might want to use your points sooner rather than... hehe.

We missed out on applying for this first time around but thay have extended the offer to late January now. The wife just received this mail:

Great news - now there is even more time to take advantage of our most generous British Airways
Visa Signature card1 offer. Apply before January 21, 2010, and before you know it, you could be using your 2 transatlantic reward tickets to explore the world. Start with 50,000 bonus BA Miles after your first purchase, good for a transatlantic reward flight2. Spend $2,000 within the first 3 months of your card membership and get 50,000 additional bonus BA Miles—enough for a second transatlantic reward flight.

Few rewards cards are so rewarding.
As a British Airways Visa Cardmember, every time you use your card to make everyday purchases and pay bills, benefits like these will allow you to quickly redeem travel rewards:

• Redeem for 1, Travel for 2.
Every year you spend $30,000 on your card you will receive a redemption voucher for a companion, valid for two years. Redeem your BA Miles on a British Airways flight and take anyone with you, on the same flight in the same class of service.

• Earn BA Miles faster.
Earn 2.5 BA Miles for every $1 spent on British Airways flights, land products and vacation packages. Earn 1.25 BA Miles for every $1 spent on everyday purchases.

You will also enjoy unlimited complimentary companion tickets with every purchase of a full-fare ticket in World Traveller Plus™, Club World™ and First Class6 and a $50 discount when you book round-trip transatlantic flights online.

Apply today.
This invitation is just for you, so your application will be pre-populated with your name and address for your convenience. Apply before January 21, 2010, and take advantage of this amazing opportunity to earn enough BA Miles for 2 transatlantic reward flights.
If you go to their website the deal isn't as good so check you e-mail for an invitation. If not try calling them on 1-877-376-3135 to see if they will extend the offer to you.

Good luck.

You might want to remember that you can use those miles on airlines other than BA.

We were able to get 2 first class tickets on Cathay Pacific from SFO to Hong Kong over the christmas break. Total cost to us was $249. If you fly BA you will find the taxes and fuel surcharges etc. are much more than if you are able to use your points on a OneWorld partner.
