We're listed as #90, though I believe the suburb I live in ranked #1 in a survey a few years ago - they have a plaque for it.

Interesting that Dayton, OH ... only 40 minutes north ... is on the worst list.

I can't for the life of me see how Buffalo, NY can score higher than Portland, OR??!! OK I'm slightly biased as I HATE NY, and loved Oregon......

Portland isn't Oregon. Not sure I'd want to bring kids up in the City of Portland but the Portland Metro area is full of choices of good places to live.

I was rather gob smacked to say the least that Virginia Beach was 2nd place, although I thought it was quite a nice place to live I expected that there was a lot better over here some where

#14.... don't know that I agree, really. A lot of inconsistencies with public schools, for one, but a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital funded in large part by Michael Dell. Good weather and plenty of recreational opportunities, but traffic and commutes are now horrendous thanks to massive growth. Can everyone who absolutely doesn't love it here or who isn't stuck here LEAVE?

I think this is the best place to bring up a child, no crime, everyone is friendly and it's beautiful and you are very close
