Unfortunately almost impossible if one hasn't received
for the IRS to explain why payment not sent. I registered at Get My Payment and says qualified, then spent hour waiting to talk to IRS agent who said ir is unknown why not received. Great for those who have received and many got quickly. It s amazinf how bureaucrats keep their jobs though.

I kind of feel bad for the workers at the IRS, suddenly being thrown into this mess with likely little information given to them.

I tried 2 times last week, didn't get any useful information.

The IRS is adding 3,500 new reps to handle calls for lost stimulus checks.

Good on you for spreading the word JG. For anyone who doesn't know JSmith, he has and continues to face significant barriers but despite that he never gives up. Not everyone is able to donate, but if those who are able to contribute do, they'll be making a huge and positive difference to JSmith and his wife's future.

I randomly decided to check the IRS website today, and it finally updated to something useful... Assuming it takes 2-3 weeks to arrive, then bank generally holds foreign checks for 30 days, so it won't be instant by any means, but it looks like they are finally sending a check at least so that is an improvement. The direct deposit info isn't relevant since I don't have a US bank account.

We scheduled your check to be mailed on November 20, 2020 to the address we have on file for you.

You may choose to provide your bank account information at this time to receive any potential future payment via direct deposit.

Direct deposit is the fastest way to receive your payment.

My daughter hasn’t received hers yet and we are still waiting a tax refund from April.

I was surprised when I saw an actual change in the status, it had not changed for months until today, not sure when it changed as its been a couple weeks since I last checked.

You planning on saving any of that $1500 (your stimulus after conversion to Canadian)? Just glad you got some positive input from the IRS.

Most of it will go to CRA as we owe them due to an overpayment they made a couple years ago but only recently notified us of this error and that they want money back.

Of course it would be nice if CRA found such mistakes at time of filing and not 2 or 3 tax years later.

CRA = Canada Revenue Agency for anyone who may not know the abbreviation.

I am very familiar with CRA and the problems they cause. I'm married to a Canadian and have in-laws throughout Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

Yes I know you are, but others may not be...

I don't even know how the mistakes happen, they are the ones that calculate the benefits not me, I use a well known tax software, nothing complicated about the taxes, no deductions or investment income or anything, and yet they still seem to manage to overpay then come collecting a a couple years later, its really annoying how many mistakes they make, then takes them a couple years to realize it.

Mine finally arrived in Canada, and only took 14 days with a mail redirection, not bad really.

Now just got to figure out where to cash it, bank doesn't do foreign check deposits on the app (I tried, the app can tell if a check is foreign or Canadian and refuses foreign checks) but there are no branches in our area.

The payday loan places wont cash US checks anymore.....

Checks really can be a pain in the rear end....

Anyone know how to get a replacement check?

I have had Canada Post continue to screw me this month, they delivered the check but where they delivered it to is anyone's guess because they can't tell me where they delivered, but the bank never got it.

I physically got the check in the mail in Canada, but there are no bank branches in the city we live in that we could deposit a US check, so had to mail it to the branch in Vancouver, about 250 miles away.

But somehow Canada Post lost it, delivered it to who knows where, but it never arrived at the bank.

- I did finally find buried in the IRS website as to what to do, mail in a form and wait a few months.

Fedex commercials were right, when something absolutely positively has to be there, use Fedex...
