I just didn't expect that sort of reply, least of all from ABY, he's usually a nice poster and all because I'm glad that the dollar is getting stronger, it means that any of us who travel back to the UK in the near future get to do so with more money in our pockets, and I'm glad of it because I'll be moving back soon and I'll be able to make the most of my money too. |

Yep, will help with the child support payments you have to send back to the UK for your kids. Exchange rate will help.

And it's still falling... For me this is good news as I have debts that I have to pay back in the UK, so it means less $ each month. I'm not sure about the comment in the article about the dollar's recovery being sustainable. The dollar was always going to rebound, it was just a question of when. Now it seems like the US economy is slowly starting to recover, but the worst is yet to come for the UK economy, so unless something changes then I can't see the pound rebounding any time soon.

Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics, thinks the pound could fall as far as $1.65 by the end of 2009.

Lansbury, I know you had to renegotiate your "standing order" rate at some point...did you manage to do that before the drop or are you still to do that yet? |

I think the £ is vulnerable because in terms of purchasing power parity it's still way overvalued. Additionally, the Bank of England is predicting essentially a recession over the next year, the UK housing and credit markets seem to be in almost as big a mess as the US's and UK consumers are actually more indebted than even their US counterparts. Not a pretty picture for the UK economy moving forward.
