$ up again.

$1.94 to the pound, good for visitors. Stinks if you are visiting UK or paying UK bills.
Will it make 2.0 this time?

How/where to take advantage of this? My mum said the bereau de change at home will only give her $1.84 to the pound.

I'm off to the bank later this week to change some pounds that my dear old aunt has sent us for xmas, usually get about 6c less than the exchange rate, not really sure where else to change it at, but it seems a fairly good deal to me :confused:
Hope it keeps going up, it doubles my child support from the ex every month :o :)

No you very rarely can get the top end rate can you? But tell her to try M&S, seems to be a bit better than 1.84 at about $1.87

Does she send you cash ??
You might get a few quid more if she gets you a prepaid debit card or just sticks it into your bank back home (if you have one) - then you can use your atm card to take it out over here.
Bank over the counter rates are generally appalling.

normally she puts it in my UK account but you get charged something like 4.25% to take it out over here, so we were exploring other options - seeing if cash would be cheaper.

Anyone thought of doing something crazy like remortgage their UK property (if they have one) to release some cash to turn into dollars or use to buy a property here...then wait it out until the dollar returns to something more normal....

4.25% is pretty poor, but over the counter will be worse.
If you have a UK credit card you'd prob get a better rate on that - use it to buy stuff here then pay if off from your UK bank a/c.
Or just leave it there til you go home you muppet :p

https://www.xe.com/fx/ - as advised by folks on here, now I recommend it myself. Good rates for even small amounts, and no fees. Takes a week or so to get set up, then you are set forever.

What I have done is to ask, family, how many dollars they require, I then ask them to put the equivalent £ amount in my bank account. I then draw the dollars from my account here. After all it is family.
