Would I be able to immigrate
 

I am 52 year old UK citizen. Retired from Local Government with an index
linked pension of approx $17,500.pa and a state pension to be recieved at
65.
No criminal convictions. Divorced with 1 20 year old son who will be 23 when
I would wish to emmigrate.

On what basis ? There is no longer a retiree category to a green card.
That pension would go nowhere in the US - you'd be broke in minutes.

There are only a few ways to immigrate to the US. One would be a family
based petition, which would require you have a spouse, parent or child to
sponsor you. The second way would be through an employment based petition,
which would require employment. The third commom way to immigrate would be
through the asylum/refugee process, which I am guessing that you probably do
not qualify for.

There are a few misc ways to immigrate, such as via an investor visa, the
diversity lottery, etc. Good luck.

and as far as the other guys post.... 17,500ps in pounds i am assuming...
will allow you to live in a rural area

For a single indivual the poverty rate is $9k/year, minimum wage will
get you only $16k

Median income for African American families is $29k

I dont think that his living standard would be too bad - probably
better than in the UK and if he bought his own home he would have a
strong financial footing - he would even be able to afford medical
insurance

Since he would need an employment basis on which to emmigrate then
Spain would be an easier alternative

What's so bad about the UK anyways? The UK is a great place to live.

The UK is a great place to live. I would only leave if I had an American
girlfriend and she didn't want to live here.
