Working under contract for an O1 petitioner as opposed to being employed

Quick question,

Can an individual on an O1A work under contract for an LLC that he or she has shares in? As far as i can see, a person cannot legally be employed by an LLC that they have a share holding in.

Thanks

I'd have imagined that it all came down to % of ownership. There could be situations where the employer grants shares to employees as a reward. It happened to me, and it did not affect either my I-129 or I-140.

Thanks.

So you were given shares in the LLC that you work for under contract but you're not directly employed by?
