Can I withdraw an L1-A application?

(hope the exclamation mark doesn't piss anyone off, but i'm running out of time)
Hi all,

My initial L1-A visa expired June 18th, and we submitted an application for renewal before then. We've had a request for additional evidence proving that the overseas firm exists.

However, since we made the application, there's been a death in my family and I've decided to stay in the UK for the next year anyway.
So what I want to do is simply withdraw the application. Does anyone know if this can be done and what the procedure is?
One concern I have is that they've already made the request for evidence. Can a withdrawl be made at this stage?
My I-129 was submitted to the California Service Center.

thanks...

The employer writes a letter to USCIS stating that it hereby withdraws the
L-1A extension petition, and encloses a copy of the RFE. There is no reason
to try to explain the withdrawal.

Yes.
