Don't think it's necessarily average - hubby's work could have been a bit quicker off the mark. We had L1/L2 visa's for initial 3 years and went through 1 renewal process. Green Card applications were officially submitted last December (around the 12th) so less than 5 months for the GC process.
If hubby's work had been a bit quicker it would have saved us from having to do the renewal and would have saved them money but hey it's their $$.

Re: When did you emigrate to America?
17th March 2010 - Glasgow to Newark then on to Denver.
Nearly derailed at Glasgow Airport by some officious (American) idiot who didn't understand Continental's baggage rules (OH was a platinum flyer and we were making full use of the enormous baggage allowance!). When they lost that argument they then tried to make me check in separately as they didn't believe I could be an accompanying spouse as my surname was different. Then had to produce every piece of official documentation to persuade them, including birth certificates, marriage certificate, visa paperwork etc to prove it.
It's the only time we've ever had a problem, and we've travelled back and fore on that flight many times.

Re: When did you emigrate to America?
From reading the posts here, some of us have been here a long time, whilst others are fresh off the boat.
So what was the date of your emigration, where did you embark from, and where did you arrive in the States?
I emigrated on Saturday, December 4, 1976, I was 25 years old, I embarked from London Heathrow and arrived at JFK. My first experience was lighting a cigarette in the subway and being informed they were smoke-free.

Re: When did you emigrate to America?
I came here twice. I first lived in the US from 1984 to 1987, then moved back to England and lived there until 1990. I moved back here in 1990 and have been here ever since. I feel as if I am truly stuck here now.

Re: When did you emigrate to America?
14th September 2011, Heathrow to Las Vegas, two kids and a husband. Eight suitcases and the car that was supposted to pick us up was late We stood at the airport tired, rather lost until the car arrived 15 mins later.
We were then dumped at the appartment rented by the company at some silly oclock and basically said sort you self out now.
Will be returning September 2014 Las Vegas to Heathrow:-)

Re: When did you emigrate to America?
June 12th 2008, for 90 days on the vwp with the hubby and kids to get the house set up ready for when my CR1 was approved...
Then as a 'real' LPR on December 14th 2008, Manchester to Cincinnati.... Hubby, and twins who were then 10 in tow we made it just in time for Christmas!
Now I've just passed my naturalization test / interview and I'm waiting for my oath date.... Getting ready to be one of those USC things
