Default What now?

I met my fiance over the internet (who doesn't these days!) and I went to visit him and then came back to London. We have decided to get married and for me to permanently move to Atl. When I get back there and we get married, what then? I know I have to apply for AOS initially but is it best to get a lawyer or can I do it myself? At the moment I have a B1 visa so obviously that doesn't enable me to work so I need to apply for AOS as soon as we get married. Can I work when I've filed the AOS papers?

Any help/advice gratefully received!

Since you already plan to marry when you return.....you best file the K-1 (fiancé) visa.

Grrrl,
It is illegal to enter US on tourist visa with "intent" to wed and adjust
status. There can be quite significant penalties if you do so and the BCIS
becomes aware of your fraudulent intent. That said, many couples have done
just that and adjusted status successfully. If you search postings on the
group, you will find very heated discussions on the matter. Familiarize
yourself thoroughly with the risks and benefits, and make an informed
decision.

I wonder if it is also illegal to enter the US if you are already wed
and you just want to spend some time visiting here while waiting for
your security namecheck so you can go back to embassy in your country
and have an interview. The LIFE ACT is now a joke!
