What might happen?

Now that we have that coveted NSC approval, and I know the interview will go fine, I am
jumping ahead to thinking about AOS. Right now I have just moved back to Detroit, but I am
looking for a new job. If I don't find something here, it will probably outside of the
jurisdiction of the Detroit INS office.

My fiance should have his k-1 interview in about 7 weeks, and will come here shortly
thereafter. We will be married in Detroit right away, and will file the AOS right away.

So, here is the question--If I get a job in DC can we still 'Instant AOS' in Detroit?
Timing will be such that I would have JUST started that new job when we are AOSing, but I
may have already started to find a new place for us to live, etc. I will still have all of
my residency documentation for Detroit (drivers license, bank statements, the house, etc.)
It is obviously better for us to AOS in Detroit.

The other factor is that I am currently self employed, and used only assets not income to
file the affadavit of support for the fiance visa. I will do the same for the I-864, so I
will not submit pay stubs or an employer letter. So the INS will not know that I will be
living out of Detroit. Or is that lying to them, which I obviously don't want to do? I
will still have my self-employed venture in Michigan, in addition to a regular 'day job'
in another state.

Advice greatly welcomed.

File where you're living. Don't lie.

HOWEVER - if you get a job in D.C., ask them if you can either work from Detroit to start
or if you can start after you get married. Maybe they'll let you work starting the week
after you get married, and then you can marry, file and then move?

Just an idea.

Betastar who's really just looking for a way to procrastinate.

Whatever, whichever and however you can do it, go with the Detroit instant AOS. Do not
give up your apartment. Do not exchange your driver's license. Do not give up your
bank account.

The only problem I can see is if the greencard that is mail delivered is not forwardable.

If you move to the DC area you are either stuck with Arlington, VA if you live in VA
or with Baltimore, MD if you live in MD. And for MD you would be using the Vermont
Service Center.

Ms. Z can give (temporary) jobs in her business to newly arrived K- 1s with 90day EADs.
Then they can sub-rent her apartment, get married, get a driving licence and go for
instant AoS in Detroit. A lost I-551 is a small price to pay. Replacement is cheaper
than even a single pair of EAD+AP.

Great idea! Then I bet I would get to go to jail, and my 'employees' would get to go to
jail or back to NeverNeverland or whichever land they came from. I think I will resist the
quick cash, though it is tempting.

I don't really risk losing the GC, as I will still have the house in Detroit. The job in
DC is only for 12 months.

In article <[email protected]> Good decision !! For those who had put out good
money to get several pairs of EAD+AP, Detroit-AoS with a same day I-551 stamp in the
passport would surely be a prize.
