Default Want to move to Texas.

Hi, I am a british citizen and live in England with my wife, 2 children and Mom and Dad. We have a lot of family(aunts, uncles, cousins, my grand mother) who live in Texas and are American CItizens. We want to move over asap but dont think we will get a work visa as we are not trained in any specialised field?
Any thoughts?
My mother and father had US green cards but have not been back for the last 6 years due to family issues but are planning to go back in the next 6 months to visit my Grand Mother.
Thanks in advance.

Read Me: REALLY, READ ME: Want to Live & Work in the US?

That is the place to start. The family members you have will not be an immigration help to you moving, which leaves employment, mainly.

There must be a way?

What about investing in a new business?

Can my children go to school over there? they are 14 & 12?

No, there is no 'must' about it, sorry.

You need to read that thread first.

There is an investor visa; you can also find more information on the US Embassy London website: http://london.usembassy.gov/visas.html

Your children can go to school if they have a visa that allows them to live in the US.

not judged on what you said.

Why are you concerned about your kids going to school there? it's not relevent when you don't have the right to live there yet.

no.

and the buying a business visa will screw your kids over in the end.

they'll have to either qualify for their own visa or leave the country at age 21.

No. They would not have a visa to live in the US while you are raising funds to get the visa for them to live in the US, therefore they would not be able to go to school 'first'.
I'm having a little trouble with your logic.. care to explain any more?

On an investment Visa, I will need to invest a certain amount of money into a business? COrrect or not? How much?
If this is granted then I can live there with my family and my children can go to school. If my business is still there in 10 years time they can still live there too?

With respect, there have been two links provided that with 5-6 minutes of reading will provide you with the answers you need. Did you take the time to read them?

I've only just joined this forum, but have found the members here to be EXTREMELY helpful and will go out of their way to provide you with the best possible advice, however it's a two way street and it also requires you to do at least some research on the subject as opposed to expecting someone to do it all for you.

Immigration to the US is incredibly difficult and you have to meet very specific criteria to be considered. The investment visas run to hundreds of thousands of dollars and until you've actually got the visa, the only way you will be allowed to enter the country is probably as a tourist.

This is probably the most polite answer you will get given the nature of your questions.

Seriously, it's like you're not even reading the replies let alone the link information offered.

For one million US dollars, you can buy green cards for your family (Investor visa EB-5). Everyone can live here as long as they like, with a green card.

For less than that, you can buy a visa that will allow you to live here to run your business (investor visa E-2), and your family can stay with you. When your children turn 21, they have to leave or get their own visas (rare). So, in ten years time, your children would not still be able to live in the US based on that visa.

This statement... and...

My mother and father had US green cards but have not been back for the last 6 years due to family issues...
... this statement haven't received much attention from the other posters!

Would mom and dad be interested in returning to the US to live? If so, there is a way to get what you want... albeit a long-term solution.
