I wonder if that was counting military and their families.

To be fair 2002/3 you didn't need a passport to go to Canada, Mexico or the majority of the Caribbean.

We had no visitors the first 2 years we lived here but since 1989 the only years we didn't have anyone visit has been '91, '98 and 2003.

Some years we have had multiple visitors but this is because both OH and I have very large sibling families back in the UK . We always take time off work and drive them around and try and show them as much of Texas and surrounding states as we can.

Most of our visitors are always welcome back.......there have been a couple though that it has been said (when they are out of earshot) when waving them off at the airport.."never again"

Next year we have put our foot down though..no visitors here as we want to take a trip back home ourselves as it's been a long time since we were there.

I have always thought it must be more interesting to see the "real america" rather than NYC, LA or Disney but I can't seem to convince any of our friends. They all come over to Florida and suggest we pop down and see them!
Plus staying with us would be cheaper...but no takers so far.

Have you been inviting them in Winter? People don't want to pay for transatlantic fare to see reality!

Am I asking enough questions?
Can I answer ... being one of those from the bottom of the world?
Thanks

My first visitor was my daughter - Sept 05, then my sister - Nov 05, then my mum November 06, then friends - Dec 06....all for between 4 to 6 weeks...and I've only been here since Jan 05

I refuse to sit and veg in front of the telly, and when I am sitting down, usually have a couple of things on the go... anyway, I'm digressing..

With them all, I packed them in the car, and took them hundreds of miles to all my favourite places - they were all knackered by the end of their holiday ...that'll stop the buggers coming back too quick

No way ... I've got them all queued up again

I don't do theme parks !

I take them all over Victoria - what's the point of coming all this way, if they aren't going to see the place?
And I need no excuse to travel..

Oh no, ABY, we don't need Canada as another state. Imagine the problems we would have with those Francophones and their demands to be a sovereign nation of their own. Egads, man, take pity on us.

They could go skiing.
Whenever we mention Pittsburgh everyone at home goes..."oh, the deer hunter...it looks a dreary place, very run down etc"

Never mind, their loss.
