Which Visas Likely For Carnival Cruises?
CNBC announced that many employees have been flying in to Mobile Alabama today to start work repairing the Triumph cruise ship.
Again the question is which type of visa the employees are on. With so many employees needed to work on the ship so fast, it seems unlikely that the employees had previously applied for visas just in case such as disaster occurred.
Although much of the work will likely be done by American subcontractors, there will likely still need to be a large number foreign employees to manage the ordering and acquiring parts, the repair of the engine room, clean up and repair the ship, and reassign employees to other ships.

Probably B-1 in most cases. Or the VWP equivalent.

Or they got special dispensation and will be accomodating them in specific places, it's been done in other countries by other firms.

Why would Americas or LPR's need a visa to work on a stationery vessel? It is not leaving port and is docked in the US so why the need for a visa? Why are you assuming they would need foreign employees?

It's a cruise ship, not a paper ship!
Price probably. It's been moved to a shipyard already so I guess the first task is to establish what needs to be done. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that it'll move again for the finishing touches somewhere cheaper.

I wondered the same thing, but the ship was built in Italy and some of the systems that may need repair work may be of foreign design and manufacture, and so inspection and repair supervision may call for specialists who are foreigners working for foreign companies?
I agree that there are probably more than enough Americans and legal aliens in the area to handle the routine, if extensive, clean-up tasks.

The ship was not built in the US but probably Norway so the expertise is likely in Norway. So it is likely that many of the people flying in are from Norway.

Bet they wish it were. Then sinking it would be easy and painless and not harm to the environment.

I dont think it was built in NOrway, as it was built by an italian firm, so one is assuming that it was also built in Italy.. Fincantieri - Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A

I misunderstood the heading, I was going to say multi entry.
