Default Visa waiver extension

I recently entered the US on the Visa Waiver program as I am working out here for a British company so as far as that is concerened it is all totally legal. However when I entered last month I told the immigration officer at the port of entry I would be leaving on July 26th. Something has now cropped up and I need to stay until the end of August. When I entered I was given a 90 day stamp therefore I will not be overstaying my welcome but I just wanted to check that this will be okay to do so long as I leave within my 90 days. Will this bring more problems should I wish to re-enter on the VWP in the future?

The green I-94W shows your allowed stay. You have to leave before the date
listed there.
Also, your subject line is a bit misleading. It is *not* possible to extend a
visa waiver.

You appear to be confused. It is not legal to work after entering on
the visa waiver. You are allowed to do business. I've always been
intrigued by the idea that doing business isn't working, but that's USA
immigration law for you.

He admitted you for a certain length of time, and stamped the date to
which you were admitted on the I-94W card he gave you. As long as you
leave before that date, everything is fine.

South African law happens to be the same. Equally crazy, or equally sane,
depending on ones point of view ;-)
