Which Visa - Please Help
Hi
Can anyone please tell me what visa I should apply for to travel to America and work for no payment for 30 days, (volunteer)??, I thought at first it would be the B-2, I have tried looking on the website (us-embassy) but there are so many I am not to sure.
I will be staying with the friend of a friend who says I can work off my lodgings as opposed to paying for them.
Thanks a lot
R

I'm sorry to tell you that there is no visa that would allow you to do
what you plan on doing. Working in return for lodging, or even for no
benefit at all, still counts as working.
The only exception is true volunteering, where Americans would also
perform the work without any form of pay.
There are a number of visas that do allow you to work, but generally
only against regular pay. For many of them, the salary actually is
tightly controlled, you can't even be paid less than an American. And of
course you must always be paid at least minimum wage.
