Hi, there,
I would like to know if anyone could provide suggestion regarding to
my current H1B extension processing.
My lawyer submitted my extension petition in Jan. The USCIS (Vermont)
case status board says they received the documents on 1/27 this year
and the processing time is 90 to 150 days. But it's been 166 days now,
and we have not heard anything from the USCIS.
I am planning to go on a business trip within 10 days. Is there any
way to speed up my case?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I am probably going to add to your frustration, since my company filed for
H1B extension in march 2004 in USCIS Vermont, and we have received an
approval notice yesterday. It was faster than I expected.

You can apply for Premium Processing. Costs $1000 and gets an answer
within 15 days (often less). I guess your company could forward the
approval to you for you to get a visa.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are considering this option.
Do you think it's worthy to file a complaint to the director's office?

It might be worthy, but it won't gain you anything. You don't really
have much to complain about yet - 6 months isn't untypical.

Thanks guys! My company has started the premium process.
But this is still really outrageous! As of today, the processing date
is 5/10 and I have not received anything at all! Called VSC couple
times, all their responses were 'they will make the decision soon.' I
don't think so!
Gosh! Is there any law protecting those non-immigrant workers? What
happens if I have to leave the country for an emergency overseas? We
are paying taxes, social security and Medicare. Where is my tax at
work?
I guess if all the non-immigration workers had the right to vote in
the presidential election, they will probably try very hard to process
the case!
